On our spring break trip to Omaha, Jackson Street Booksellers turned up a few old friends:

  • David Mitchell's Ghostwritten and Number9Dream, each offering hints at the worlds to come in his later novels. The former interesting to see the early traces of interconnected narratives that span characters and continents.
  • Jennifer Egan's Manhattan Beach follows Anna Kerrigan's work at the Brooklyn Naval Yard in World War II, where she eventually becomes the first female diver.

Finally, a few that have been on the "To Read" list for a while:

  • The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz. Appreciated the time expanse.
  • North Woods by Daniel Mason, the story of a house through the centuries told through its cast of inhabitants.
